Compare the Pair

Johnathan ‘JT’ Thurston:

  • 4 x Dally M medals
  • 2 x Golden Boots
  • 33 x Origin Appearances
  • 32 x Test Match Appearances
  • 1 x Premiership

Andrew ‘Joey’ Johns:

  • 3 x Dally M medals
  • 2 x Golden Boots
  • 24 x Origin Appearances
  • 27 x Test Match Appearances
  • 2 x Premierships

Same game, same position, same result.. well pretty much anyway.

Both of these players are dominant players within their playing careers. However with his 4th Dally M medal and here’s hoping a 2nd premiership to his name, for me, JT  has become the greatest of the greats. To achieve all he has in the modern era of professional sport where the league has become unforgivingly tough in terms of physicality/strength/fitness is simply a superhuman achievement.

In the other big medal news, who couldn’t help but have a smile on their dial when the boy from Lake Grace held on to win his first Brownlow Medal. PLUS what a good looking chest, I mean Brownlow it was on display the morning after! His speech was entertainment in itself and highlighted the grounded nature of the country boy.

Enjoy the long weekend ahead! My tips for the bevy of sport that awaits us are below:

NRL – Cowboys by 16

AFL – Hawks by 10

RUWC – Wallabies by 100+
